Meet the team: Laura
2022-09-07

Nothing we do would be possible without our very wonderful team. They really are the heart and soul of spacelab_. To help you get to know them better, we’ve asked a few questions to give you a glimpse into who they are.
Meet Laura. Laura joined our team in September 2022 and has since contributed to the successful delivery of many of our studio projects. Throughout her three and a half years at Spacelab, Laura has been a valued member of our team. She excels at bringing concepts to life and delivering empathetic design solutions through her deep understanding of our clients' needs. Beyond her design work, Laura is a key member of our People Team, where she introduces new initiatives and organises team learning activities.
Tell us a little bit about you, your background and your role at spacelab_?
Since completing a master's in Interior Architecture at the University of Portsmouth, I joined the team at spacelab as an entry-level interior designer. Spacelab_ has taught me the ways of workplace design and more, collaborating on some unique and interesting projects from conceptual stages through to construction.
What inspires you?
With an appreciation for the natural world, I am inspired by the relationship we have with the environment and how we can evolve with it in the context of the climate crisis.
What do you like most about your work?
I like designing for people, creating real designs which will impact their daily lives.
What have been the most rewarding project moments during your time at spacelab_?
I love interesting architectural features that add character to a project. Working with existing buildings, especially those with original materials or in unique locations that bring a sense of history, makes a project really engaging for me.
What do you like most about working at spacelab_?
What a fabulous team! I love the collaborative nature and flexibility that come with such a supportive and creative group of people.
If you could change one thing within the industry, what would it be?
I hope that our attitude towards sustainable development continues to be at the forefront of design and technological innovation. Lots of little efforts go a long way, and as designers, we often have opportunities to make lasting choices.
