Ash Brown Photo

We would like to introduce you to Ashley Brown who recently joined us as a Graphic Designer! Originally from New Zealand, Ash has just made the move over to London where she will be joining our creatives to provide a holistic approach to architecture and design, providing services in branding and identity, signage, way-finding as well as digital comms.

We can't wait for everyone to get to know her a little bit more...

Tell us a little bit about you, your background, and your role at spacelab?

I’m a graphic designer with over 7 years of experience working in a diverse range of industries including architecture, hospitality, and policy & research.

As a graphic designer for spacelab_, I collaborate closely with our tight-knit team consisting of architects, interior designers, and design specialists. One aspect of my role involves effectively communicating and marketing the spacelab_ brand. This includes defining our brand's tone of voice and visual identity, as well as ensuring consistency and accessibility across all channels. Additionally, I am responsible for creating a variety of graphic outputs for spacelab_’s clients and brands. That external, client-facing work is something we're beginning to do more of, assisting clients in the creation of branding collateral, design guidelines, and environmental graphics like signage and way-finding which are then seamlessly incorporated into the physical spaces and places we design.

What inspires you?

The environment is what inspires me the most. Spending time in nature, whether on the beach or a nature trail, makes me feel more inspired and allows me to think more freely and creatively.

What do you like the most about your work?

Design is a continuous aspect of our lives, influencing everything we interact with. Personally, I find the most satisfaction in contributing to meaningful work that positively impacts people's lives. I strongly believe that the built environment can greatly influence our wellbeing. The opportunity to create integrated brand experiences that enhance people's connection and experience with a space excites me.

What made you want to join the spacelab_?

spacelab_’s vision particularly resonated with me, especially the emphasis on creating unique spaces, each with the power to positively transform people’s lives. I was also drawn to the collaborative nature between creative disciplines across the business, in which all are committed to making a positive difference, not only for people but the environment.

If you could change one thing about the world, what would it be?

It would be that everyone would collaborate to create sustainable and inclusive environments that benefit both communities and the environment.
