At Spacelab, we make sure your space works with you, rather than against you. By observing how you use your space, and listening to what you need from it, we are able to make design decisions based on evidence, creating spaces that are effective and inspiring. It’s a unique method that works well in all types of spaces – from offices and public venues to housing schemes and hospitals.

A clear brief is crucial to the success of any design. That’s why we start by getting to know you, and how you use your space. Whether it’s a workplace fragmented over a number of floors, or a public venue served by poor access, our unique research-based approach will help you locate the problems, and choose the most effective solutions.

When you ask interesting questions, you get interesting answers, and interesting design. This is how we work, with questionnaires, interviews, occupancy studies, and observations of how you use your space, in order to arrive at unexpected answers, rather than one-size solutions. We also use computer software to map the impact various changes will have on your space – whether that’s linking existing buildings, or building a new one from scratch.

We believe inspiring spaces make more effective spaces, which is why looks are so important to us. From smart storage to stimulating lighting and colour schemes, we make spaces that work well, but also look great. With experience across a wide range of projects, we know how to find the perfect materials for you, and how to exact the smallest details. And because we base all our work on research, our designs will always speak confidently and honestly about who you are.

We don’t trade creativity for practicality at Spacelab. Both are equally important to us, and we’ll balance them from day one to make sure everything happens on time and within budget. Drawing on our wealth of experience across a wide range of projects, we make sure the most appropriate materials and construction methods are used, with spending prioritised on the areas where it will have the biggest impact – all without compromising your vision.

At Spacelab, we bring a wealth of learning to every project, accumulated over years of experience. By focusing on the common elements of spatial design, whether in a housing development or a hospital, we have built up an understanding of how space works – both in a broad sense, and on a uniquely personal level. We bring this knowledge to each new project, and build on it by revisiting them once they are finished.
